Vietnamese rice still has a lot of potential for export to the ASEAN market

Among ASEAN countries, Vietnamese rice products are mainly exported to the Philippines. In 2021, the Philippines is the largest rice export market of Vietnam with an export volume of 2.45 million tons.

Today’s rice prices in the domestic market have fluctuated differently, with rice prices remaining stable and rice and byproduct prices increasing sharply.

Rice prices today in the Mekong Delta provinces remain stable. In An Giang, fragrant rice variety Dai Thom 8 is being bought by traders at the field with prices ranging from 5,800 to 5,900 VND/kg; OM 5451 5,500 – 5,600 VND/kg; OM 18 5,800 – 6,000 VND/kg; An Giang sticky rice (fresh) 5,600 – 5,700 VND/kg; Long An sticky rice (fresh) 5,600 – 5,850 VND/kg; IR504 rice is priced at 5,500 – 5,600 VND/kg; Japanese rice 8,100 – 8,500 VND/kg; OM 380 rice 5,500 – 5,600 VND/kg; IR 50404 (dried) 6,000 VND/kg; Nang Nhen (dried) 11,500 – 12,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa 9 5,900 – 6,000 VND/kg.

According to traders, since last weekend, the demand for dry rice has been more active, and the price of Dai Thom 8/OM 18 dry rice has slightly increased.

Today’s rice prices in the Mekong Delta provinces have increased again. For rice products, the price of raw and finished rice has increased by 100 VND/kg. Specifically, the price of IR504 raw rice is 8,350 – 8,450 VND/kg, up 100 VND/kg; TP IR 504 rice is 8,900 – 8,950 VND/kg, up 50 – 100 VND/kg. The price of byproducts has also increased sharply due to scarce supply and high demand. Currently, the price of IR 504 sheet is 8,400 – 8,500 VND/kg, up 150 – 200 VND/kg; the price of dry bran is 8,650 – 8,800 VND/kg, up 150 VND/kg.

At the retail market, rice prices have slightly increased by 500 VND/kg to 11,500 – 12,500 VND/kg; Jasmine rice 15,000 – 16,000 VND/kg; ordinary Sóc rice 14,000 VND/kg; glutinous rice 14,000 – 15,000 VND/kg; Nang Nhen rice 20,000 VND/kg; long-grain Thai fragrant rice 18,000 – 19,000 VND/kg; Hương Lài rice 19,000 VND/kg; common white rice 14,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa rice 17,500 VND/kg; Thai Sóc rice 18,000 VND/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice 20,000 VND/kg; Japanese rice 20,000 VND/kg; bran 7,000 – 8,000 VND/kg.

In the world market, the selling prices of Vietnamese rice exports have slightly increased with an increase of 3 – 5 USD/ton. Specifically, the price of 100% broken rice is at 365 USD/ton, up 5 USD/ton; 5% broken rice is at 418 USD/ton
