Rice prices today on September 7th, 2023 in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam: Export rice prices simultaneously decreased by 10 USD/ton

Today’s rice price on September 7 in the domestic market adjusted in contrast to rice products. On the export market, export rice prices decreased by 10 USD/ton.

Rice prices today on September 7 in the Mekong Delta region did not change compared to yesterday.

Specifically, at An Giang warehouse, according to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, OM 5451 rice has a price of 7,800 – 8,100 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 rice is stable at 8,000 – 8,200 VND/kg; OM 18 rice fluctuates around 8,000 – 8,200 VND/kg; Miss Hoa 9 costs 8,000 – 8,400 VND/kg; IR 50404 rice is stable at 7,800 – 8,000 VND/kg; Japanese rice 7,800 – 8,000 VND/kg.

For sticky rice, fresh An Giang sticky rice is at 6,300 – 6,500 VND/kg; Fresh Long An sticky rice fluctuates around 7,300 – 7,450 VND/kg.

Recorded in the Mekong Delta region today, the price of autumn-winter rice is stable compared to the end of August. The quality of rice is improved compared to the beginning of September. The summer-autumn rice market is depleted.

With rice products, today’s rice prices fluctuated in opposite directions with a slight increase in raw rice. Meanwhile, the price of finished rice decreased compared to yesterday. Specifically, IR 504 raw rice fluctuates around 11,750 – 11,850 VND/kg, an increase of 50 VND/kg; IR 504 finished rice decreased by 100 VND/kg to 13,900 – 14,000 VND/kg.

Prices for by-products do not fluctuate. Accordingly, the price of IR 504 panels is at 11,700 VND/kg; Dry bran price is at 7,250 – 7,300 VND/kg.

According to traders, the amount of rice arriving today is small. In Dong Thap and Tien Giang, the amount of rice arriving is small, the warehouses are buying stably. Rice prices tend to increase slightly with good quality rice and average quality rice remaining unchanged.

Particularly in Dong Thap, the price of Dai Thom 8 raw rice increased while the price of finished rice decreased. The price of Dai Thom 8 rice continues its downward trend.

At retail markets in An Giang province, rice prices are stable and unchanged. In which, the price of glutinous rice is 16,000 – 20,000 VND/kg; Normal rice is at 12,500 – 14,000 VND/kg, Nang Nhen rice is at 23,000 VND/kg; long grain fragrant rice ranges from 18,000 – 20,000 VND/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice at 16,000 – 18,500 VND/kg; Huong Lai 19,500 VND/kg; common white rice 15,500 VND/kg; Miss Hoa 19,000 VND/kg; Soc rice usually costs 16,500 – 17,000 VND/kg; Soc Thai rice 18,500 VND/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice 21,000 VND/kg; Japanese rice 22,000 VND/kg…

In the rice export market, according to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), export rice prices on September 6 decreased by 10 USD/ton. Accordingly, the export price of 5% broken rice is at $633/ton, and 25% broken rice is at $618/ton.

Along with the decline with Vietnamese rice, Thai 5% broken rice also decreased by 5 USD/ton to 628 USD/ton.

Explaining the reason why export rice prices have decreased, Mr. Phan Van Co – Marketing Director of Vrice Company Limited – said that currently export prices are at a high level, so both sellers and buyers are in a difficult position. In which, buyers do not accept the high selling price of Vietnamese enterprises, and if the seller offers a low price, he will lose money because he has to buy domestic rice at a high price.

“Contracts signed in advance at low prices cause some businesses to cancel contracts and accept loss of reputation. Others accept losses by buying high-priced goods to deliver to customers, but they do not dare to sign new contracts. When exports slow down, the price will go down,” said Mr. Co.
