Rice price today on August 28 in the domestic market was adjusted up to 200 VND/kg, while the export price remained stable at 638 USD/ton.

Rice prices today on August 28 in the Mekong Delta region fluctuated in the direction of an increase of 200 VND/kg with some rice varieties.

Specifically, at An Giang warehouse, according to the update of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province on the morning of August 28, Dai Thong 8 rice was adjusted to 8,000 – 8,200 VND/kg, an increase of 200 VND/kg; OM 18 rice is adjusted to 8,000 – 8,200 VND/kg, an increase of 200 VND/kg; Miss Hoa 9 costs 8,000 – 8,400 VND/kg, an increase of 200 VND/kg.

The remaining rice varieties are stable including: IR 50404 rice is stable at 7,800 – 8,000 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice price 7,800 – 8,000 VND/kg; Japanese rice 7,800 – 8,000 VND/kg.

Similarly, AG sticky rice (fresh) costs 6,300 – 6,400 VND/kg; Long An sticky rice (fresh) ranges from 7,200 – 7,500 VND/kg.

According to factories in An Giang area, at the beginning of the week, warehouses asked to buy hybrid rai. Factories offered stable prices compared to the end of last week. With autumn-winter rice, the price is slightly increased by farmers, while summer-autumn rice is almost exhausted, the quantity is still small, mainly Japonica and a small amount of OM18/ Dai Thom 8.

In Kien Giang and Can Tho areas, summer-autumn rice is still at a high level. Traders and businesses ask to buy.

For rice, today remained stable at 12,250 – 12,400 VND/kg with IR 504 raw rice and IR 504 finished rice at 14,350 – 14,450 VND/kg.

Particularly, the price of by-products was slightly reduced by 100 VND/kg. Accordingly, the price of IR 504 sheet reduced to 11,900 – 12,000 VND/kg (down 100 VND); while the price of dried bran remains 7,500-7,550 VND/kg.

According to traders, in Sa Dec (Dong Thap) the amount of raw rice is small, the wharfs are empty, the buyers are scattered. Rice prices are stable. Meanwhile, in An Cu, Cai Be (Tien Giang), rice is scarce, difficult to buy.

At retail markets in An Giang province, rice prices were stable and did not fluctuate over the past week. In which, the price of glutinous rice is 16,000 – 20,000 VND/kg; Normal rice is at 12,500 – 14,000 VND/kg, Nang Nhen rice is at 23,000 VND/kg; long grain fragrant rice ranges from 18,000 – 20,000 VND/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice at 16,000 – 18,500 VND/kg; Huong Lai 19,500 VND/kg; common white rice 15,500 VND/kg; Miss Hoa 19,000 VND/kg; Soc rice usually costs 16,500 – 17,000 VND/kg; Soc Thai rice 18,500 VND/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice 21,000 VND/kg; Japanese rice 22,000 VND/kg…

In the export market, according to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the export price of rice is still stable at $638/ton for 5% broken rice and $623/ton for 25% broken rice.

Last week, the world rice market continued to fluctuate when India restricted rice exports by imposing a 20% tax on parboiled rice and information about Myanmar restricting rice exports. These moves by rice exporting countries may affect the price of this food on the world market in the short term.

However, according to businesses, in the current situation, businesses almost do not dare to sign new rice export contracts and also temporarily stop purchasing rice in the domestic market to wait and see.
