This year’s World’s Best Rice contest had the participation of more than 10 countries and 30 rice samples were submitted to the contest.

As a result, Indian rice won 3rd place, Cambodia ranked second and Ong Cua Rice ST25 won first prize. This is the second time Mr. Cua’s ST25 rice has won first prize, the first time in 2019.

According to Mr. Nguyen Nhu Cuong, Director of the Department of Crop Production (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), this year, 3 Vietnamese businesses sent 6 types of rice to compete. Among them, private enterprise Ho Quang Tri participated in the ST24 and ST25 rice competitions, Loc Troi Group participated in the LT28 rice competition and Nang Hoa 9, Thai Binh Seeds Group participated in the competition with two types of rice TBR39 -1 and A Sao sticky rice.

A report from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development shows that Vietnam’s rice export value in the first 11 months of 2023 will reach 4.41 billion USD, up 36.3% over the same period in 2022. Notably, Vietnamese rice prices have risen to the highest position in the world.
