According to enterprises, the rice market is bustling with high prices due to high demand from traditional markets such as the Philippines, China, and potential markets like Chile and Singapore. Especially, the value of rice exports to the EU has recorded very good growth in many markets thanks to the export of high-quality fragrant rice and rice products with high added value.

According to preliminary data from the Vietnam Customs, in the first four months of 2023, Vietnam exported 2.89 million tons of rice with a total value of $1.52 billion, up 41% in volume and 52% in value compared to the same period in 2022. In April alone, Vietnam exported 1.04 million tons of rice, earning $545.85 million.

Mr. Huynh Van Khoi, Director of Dai Duong Xanh Import-Export Company, said that the company did not have enough rice for export, especially high-quality rice according to market standards. For example, in the EU market, the demand for high-quality rice is very high. Previously, Dai Duong Xanh Company exported to the EU only 1-2 containers/year (about 20 tons/container), but now it has increased to several thousand tons/year. However, according to Mr. Khoi, the demand of this market is still very high. “Previously, customers bought Vietnamese rice because of its low price, but now Vietnamese rice is chosen to buy because of its fragrance and quality,” Mr. Khoi said.
