It is estimated that in 2023, rice exports will reach about 8.2 million tons with a turnover of nearly 4.8 billion USD.

According to experts, world rice prices will continue to remain high in 2024.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in 2024, global rice production could reach a record of nearly 520 million tons, and at the same time, consumption will also approach 525 million tons. Thus, the world will have a shortage of 5 million tons of rice next year. Global rice inventories decreased to just over 160 million tons.

Meanwhile, India, which exports 40% of the world’s total rice, will likely maintain its rice export ban in 2024.

Therefore, it is likely that global rice prices will remain at a record high since the 2008 rice crisis. Vietnam’s rice export price is forecast to continue to remain high at 640 – 650 USD/ tons in the first months of the year.
